Grandparents are in a battle for the next generation. The only way to walk through this battle is to tightly grip the hand of Jesus and maintain close communication with him. Only as we release our concerns for our grandchildren and their parents to Him is that we are free to cling to His hand. We cannot cling to his hand when our hands are full of worries and concerns, only when our hands are empty.
The enemy wants to disintegrate and divide our families, rendering them chaotic, restless, and unfruitful. As grandparents, let’s not let the enemy distract us or dull our desires to pray for our grandchildren and their parents intentionally. Prayer is our best weapon to defeat the enemy. I believe it’s our place as grandparents to get on our knees, humble ourselves, seek God’s face, repent of our sin, and intercede for our nations, our children, and grandchildren. Then having done all, we stand firm in our faith that God has heard and will answer our prayers according to His will and his timing.
“Do not be afraid or discouraged . . . . For the battle is not yours but Gods.” II Chronicles 20:15
This is why Christian Grandparenting Network (CGN) believes the battle for the hearts and minds of our dear grandchildren and their parents can only be won by praying grandparents who sense the urgency and the need to unite in prayer.
If you have a heavy heart for your grandchildren and their parents have you thought about praying with other grandparents. CGN has many groups uniting in prayer for their grandchildren and their parents. This week I was blessed as I met with eight other grandmothers on ZOOM to pray for our families. It encouraged me to know that other grandmothers are praying with me for my family.
