One of the sweetest things I have enjoyed doing with my grandchildren has been baking cookies with them. Of course, eating the delicious cookies was very special, a time to savor the results. This week I want to introduce you to Lydia Harris.
Lydia Harris, a grandmother of five living in the Northwwest has enjoyed many years of cooking with her grandchildren. In her new book, In the Kitchen with Grandma: Stirring up Tasty Memories Together she shares their favorite recipes.
You will discover dozens of delicious treats, including many gluten-free recipes. Each recipe is grandma-tested and rated for difficulty for each season, along with Scripture verses and ideas to stir up great conversations with your grandchild.
Grandma Harris writes, “ Cooking together is about relationships, not recipes. We don’t need to create award-winning foods or ones to be featured in a magazine. It’s about our presence not perfection. It’ s more about the process than the product.” This book is available on Amazon.
Grandma Harris has also written a book, Preparing my Heart for Grandparenting: For Grandparents at any Stage of the Journey, whichis also available on Amazon.

Thanks, Lillian. There’s fun ahead for grandmas who take time to stir up memories with their grandkids in the kitchen. Since I’ve been writing recipes for Focus on the Family’s kids’ magazines for ten years, I’ve had time to create yummy recipes that are grandkid-tested, grandma-approved, and more than half include gluten-free options.
You can use your favorite flavor of ice cream to make ice cream bread. Or if interested in space, try solar eclipse toast or meat-eor bites. You’ll find recipes suitable for each season and holiday. For summer fun, you’ll discover seashore snacks, such as honeydew canoes, sandbar surprises, clamshell tuna sandwiches, and more. Grandkids grow up fast, so let’s make memories while we can! Happy cooking! Grandma Tea (as my grandkids call me)
