Grandparents have been given a God-ordained role in the church and home that is not interchangeable with any other members. Their responsibility is to pass on a heritage of faith to future generations.
While our role is singular in focus, it is not singular in execution. In order to pass on a heritage of faith to future generations, there are several practices in which we must engage.
It is essential for instance that we make the effort to connect with our grandchildren and others in such a way as to build deep relationships with them. We must also be intentional to gather and influence, to give a blessing, to light the way, and to pray. In addition, it is crucial that we teach and model and tell stories.
We will discuss each of these practices more in future posts, but today let’s look at we can purposefully go about sharing our faith with our grandchildren.
10 Ways to Share Your Faith with Your Grandchildren
- Read the Bible together. Here are a couple of resources to get you started:

- Memorize Scripture with your grandchild.
- Keep an ongoing journal with your grandchild of things you are each thankful for.
- Share your favorite Bible verses or passages and why they are special to you.
- Go to church together.
- Prepare and deliver meals to others.
- Talk about your relationship with God.
- Write thank you notes and mail them.
