I just finished reading Deborah Haddix’s book, Praying with Purpose. I was encouraged with the challenge and various tools for prayer she shared. Deborah found herself praying very general and vague. Asking God for guidance, she learned prayer is necessary and the most powerful weapon in the battle for the souls of our children, grandchildren, and future generations. In Praying with a Purpose, she shares her heart of prayer with us so we too can be equipped with the battle for our dear loved ones.
You will want to avail yourself of these helpful tools to pray with a purpose for your dear grandchildren. Our grandchildren are growing up in a culture where sin is rampant: acting out, rebellion, alcoholism, drug addiction, negative peer pressure, gangs, pornography, etc. We cannot turn a blind eye. However, prayer is the key to do battle with the enemy. Never underestimate the power of prayers. God has gifted us with this powerful weapon of prayer.
Deborah makes the book easy to read and relates from her own life the tools she has used which helped me identify with her. If you are finding your prayers for your grandchildren have gotten vague general as “Praying they will be safe and have a good day” you will discover Praying with Purpose very beneficial. She shares many tools from pictorial prayer journals to praying in color her readers can try.
She has many Scriptures to Pray in her book. I believe a prayer based on the Scriptures is the best way to defeat the enemy. Personalize your Scripture prayers by inserting the name of the one you are praying for into the Scriptures as you pray.
