Our grandchildren need to see Jesus the Light of the world in our lives because they are living amidst an emerging post-Christian landscape with many worldly influences in school, sports, and various activities. They desperately need our prayers to see the light of Jesus, to be a light, and able to discern the light in the dark world in which we live.
Just as Jesus told his disciples, I think Jesus is telling us as grandparents, we are to be the light of the world to our grandchildren. We are not to keep our love for Jesus a secret, we are to be light-bearers on the light stand and shine for Jesus. When we let our lights shine by our example, good deeds, and prayers, we will inspire our grandchildren to open their hearts and their lives to Jesus. ¹ If you are praying for your grandchildren tell them you are praying for them.
Are you a light on a stand, glowing in the dark, shining the love of Jesus to your grandchildren? Share with us in the comments how you shine for Jesus to your grandchildren.
It’s only 44 days until Grandparents Day of Prayer on September 8. Will you join grandparents throughout the world to unite in prayer for the next generation? Would you go to https://www.facebook.com/GrandparentDayOfPrayer to “like” the page to indicate your participation?
Prayer:
Dear Lord, I pray my grandchildren will see you as the light of their world in my life.
In Jesus’ name, Amen
