Do you ever have a concern about the future for your grandchildren? Our grandchildren live in the midst of a troublesome, disturbing world, amidst a cultural war. Today’s grandchildren are facing social challenges we would never have dreamed of in our younger years. When we look at the things that are happening in our country, it is hard not to get discouraged.
God has placed our grandchildren in our lives so we can be their prayer warriors. He has given us the awesome opportunity to partner with Him on behalf of these dear ones. Our prayers can be a mighty and powerful force for them.
Have you ever thought about how many people are praying for your grandchildren other than you? You may be the only grandparent praying for your grandchildren. Praying intentionally for our grandchildren gives us a significant role in their lives.
In the Bible, we read the story of Esther (Esther 4:14) who stood in the gap for her people, the Israelites. Esther and her people called upon God to save them. Esther’s presence in the life of the king changed the course of the Israelites and spared their lives. Just as Esther stood in the gap for her people, we can stand in the gap with prayer for our grandchildren.
Satan wants us as grandparents to be so busy in our lives that we do not have the time to make the effort to pray for our grandchildren. However, let’s take the time to defeat the enemy by standing in the gap with our prayers. We have a powerful God who answers prayer. Prayer is the best weapon in the battle for the lives of our grandchildren in the world today. Remember, we make an impact on our nation by being prayer warriors for our grandchildren.
My prayer is that you will experience God’s richest blessings as you invest your prayers in the lives of your children, grandchildren, and future descendents.
I would like to invite you to comment on our website how you are standing in the gap with prayer for your grandchildren.

I have been praying for our granddaughter, Ella, since we knew God was sending her to us–now 7 years ago. For the past 3 years, I have prayed specifically for her teachers, and each year the Lord has blessed her with a Christian teacher in public schools. This Sunday, we will celebrate Ella’s 3rd spiritual birthday. Last year we gave her a heart pendant with a cross, and she wears it everyday without taking it off, even to bathe. She lets her light shine for Jesus. We are blessed to have the honor to pray for the two grandchildren we have now, and will pray for two more when they arrive this spring!
Charme Fletcher,
Thank you so much for your great comment. May God continue to bless you as you pray intentionally for your grandchildren.
